Staff Backend Engineer - Adaptive Telemetry, Databases | USA | Remote

About the role

Lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will collaborate across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy and roadmap for product improvement
• Lead delivery of large, cross-functional engineering projects
• Own architecture decisions for system reliability and performance
• Establish and manage SLOs/SLIs for incident response
• Champion observability and operational efficiency initiatives
• Align stakeholders and remove barriers to project delivery
• Mentor junior engineers and improve team skills

Qualifications

• 5-7 years experience in delivering large distributed systems
• Deep knowledge of system design tradeoffs (latency, consistency, availability)
• Familiarity with cloud-native architectures (microservices, Kubernetes)
• Expertise in performance tuning and reliability engineering
• Proficient in coding with Go or similar languages
• Understanding of AI-assisted software development practices
• Experience with messaging and telemetry tools like Kafka and Prometheus

Pay

$174,986 – $209,983 annually
