About the role
The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch. The court system employs nearly 3,300 personnel who support 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks. The Warren and Edmonson Circuit Court has an immediate need for a Staff Attorney to perform legal support relating to the court's docket under the direct supervision of a judge.
Responsibilities
- Review process of legal briefs and appellate records, ensuring thorough understanding and organized documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis of case materials for court cases.
- Prepare and edit drafts of opinions, orders, and judgments under guidance.
- Proofread legal documents.
- Communicate with attorneys upon the direction of the judge.
- Support the Court in the creation and delivery of jury instructions with guidance.
- Monitor for and provide summaries of recent legal developments and decisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Must be licensed and in good standing with the Kentucky Bar Association (KBA). Exception: Attorneys holding a current license in a U.S. state other than Kentucky must be making every necessary step to become licensed with the KBA within eighteen (18) months of employment.

- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
Working Conditions
Work may be performed in an office or courtroom setting. In-state travel may be required, primarily within the judge’s jurisdiction.
Pay
$51,412.56 - $68,430.24 annually
