About the role
The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch, supporting 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks through nearly 3,300 personnel.
Responsibilities
- Review process of legal briefs and appellate records, ensuring thorough understanding and organized documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis of case materials for court cases.
- Prepare and edit drafts of opinions and orders, under guidance.
- Proofread legal documents.
- Communicate with attorneys upon the direction of the judge.
- Monitor for and provide summaries of recent legal developments and decisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- EDUCATION: Juris Doctor degree – Graduate of an accredited law school
- EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: KBA licensure
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed and in good standing with Kentucky Bar Association (KBA).
Qualifications
- Attorneys holding a current license in a U.S. state other than Kentucky must be making every necessary step to become licensed with the KBA within eighteen (18) months of employment.
- Proficient legal research and writing skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
