About the role

Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking an Agile Product Owner to join the Payload & Ground Software Engineering organization supporting a Ground program. This position serves as an inward-facing technical planning/execution Lead responsible for setting a strategic vision for the technical execution of the software team and serving as authority over the team's technical roadmap and closure of epics. This Agile Product Owner represents Product Management and the voice of customers on the Agile development team, collaborating with Product Managers to define work so the integrated team can review, commit, and execute within a defined period.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize key areas of work during a program increment
  • Ensure the software development team understands the intent and requirements of feature and user story definitions
  • Ensure the team is aligned on all acceptance criteria
  • Represent customer interests and continuously dictate team backlog priorities
  • Set strategic vision for technical execution of the software team
  • Serve as authority over the team's technical roadmap and closure of epics

Basic Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Level 5 (Staff) experience requirements:
    • 12 Years relevant experience with completed Bachelor's
    • 10 Years relevant experience with completed Master's
    • 8 Years relevant experience with completed PhD
    • 14 Years relevant software engineering experience with completed Associate's degree
    • 16 Years relevant work software engineering experience in lieu of completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent required)
  • 3+ years' experience working in a software Agile delivery framework
  • 3+ years of experience with product lifecycles for new and existing products
  • 2+ years of product roadmap development experience
  • Experience converting technical and business requirements into Epics, Features, and User Stories
  • Experience presenting and conducting demos of software product to users/leadership/stakeholders
  • Demonstrated communication skills and visionary on business, user experience, and technical sides of product development
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Jira and Confluence)
  • Experience leading a product development team
  • Strong understanding of Agile PO role and technical experience developing and fielding command and control systems (TT&C, Flight Dynamics, etc) for Space Systems
  • Must be on-site (Morrisville, North Carolina or Fairfax, Virginia); remote or hybrid work not supported

Preferred Qualifications

  • Product owner certification or any other major Agile certification
  • Experience with both COTS solution and custom application development
  • Experience as a Scrum Master
  • Experience leading or supporting distributed teams
  • Experience as a software developer to better interact and direct the team
  • Knowledge of container security best practices
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes (Helm charts, service discovery, autoscaling, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable with Python
  • Technical experience developing and fielding command and control systems (TT&C, Flight Dynamics, etc) for Space Systems

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
