STAFF ACCOUNTANT - MADISON, WI

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant provides financial, operational, and reconciliation support across the Market, Office Coffee Service (OCS), and Vending business units. This role is a key contributor to the Madison District finance team, partnering closely with the Operations Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and to support initiatives that drive continuous performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Accounts Receivable activities, including validation and reconciliation
• Review and maintain financial records to ensure accuracy and timely reporting
• Aid in the month-end close process, including general ledger accuracy and balance sheet reconciliations
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliations across three lines of business
• Prepare and maintain journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
• Partner with operations to support efficient and effective business performance
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner
• Support internal audits and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
• Maintain organized financial documentation and complete data entry as required
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of general ledger experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and GAAP accounting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across warehouse, field, and administrative teams
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrate ability to analyze data, solve problems, and work independently in a deadline-driven environment
