About the Opportunity

The Staff Accountant II, Contract Billing & Revenue role is responsible for managing the monthly contract-billing process for rehabilitation units within hospitals. This position ensures accurate billing, revenue recognition, and financial reporting by partnering with various stakeholders to validate and finalize invoices. The role contributes by maintaining financial integrity and supporting the operational and accounting teams to meet strict deadlines and improve billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly contract-billing for rehabilitation units in hospitals.
• Collect and input operational billing data into financial systems.
• Review contract terms and rate structures for billing accuracy.
• Prepare and present pre-bill summaries for approval.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Finalize and release invoices within monthly deadlines.
• Close billing cycles and prepare files for accounts receivable invoicing.
• Collaborate with accounting to prepare related journal entries.
• Verify revenue postings and reconcile accounts receivable balances.
• Analyze financial statements to identify irregularities.
• Conduct post-close reviews to ensure monthly financial result accuracy.
• Serve as a primary contact for billing and financial inquiries.
• Identify and address potential billing issues before invoice release.
• Maintain billing schedules, documentation, and audit-ready records.
• Support internal controls and compliance for billing and financial reporting.
• Analyze and recommend improvements for billing workflows.
• Utilize Excel, macros, automation, and AI tools to streamline processes.
• Aid in developing standardized reporting and intake templates.
• Support cross-training to ensure process continuity.
• Perform additional accounting and special projects outside monthly close.
• Maintain confidentiality and reliable attendance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum two years of accounting experience, preferably in healthcare or related fields.
• Experience with contract-based billing, invoicing, revenue recognition, or accounts receivable.
• Familiarity with multiple entities or business units preferred.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP, Net Health, or similar systems preferred.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
• Ability to interpret contract terms for billing.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUP.
• Experience with macros, Power Query, or automation tools preferred.
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve efficiencies.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder collaboration.

Pay Range and Compensation Package
