About the role
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced, Generation IV nuclear reactors. Under the direction of the Controller, you will manage and audit our financial information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role is based at our Charlotte, North Carolina headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, including treasury and intercompany, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Prepare and participate in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, and financial statement preparation.
- Support the Controller in financial statement preparation on a regular basis.
- Perform variance analysis, supporting the SEC Reporting Manager on budget vs. actual variances, highlighting key drivers, and assisting in financial performance evaluations.
- Support the Controller during annual financial audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting or finance.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for sponsorship for employment visa status.
- Must be able to access and use information subject to U.S. Export Control Laws, with citizenship from the U.S. Department of Energy’s list of generally authorized countries (10 CFR Part 810 Appendix A) unless a specific authorization is obtained or you are a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, U.S. permanent resident, or protected individual under the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Act.
