Staff Accountant, Fleet and Logistics - Columbia, MD

This role is responsible for supporting fleet accounting, inventory management accounting, and general ledger functions across the organization. The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of accounting experience, a strong command of Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with SAP financial systems. Your tasks Fleet Accounting:Record, track, and reconcile fleet asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedulesProcess and audit fuel, maintenance, and fleet-related vendor invoicesMaintain accurate vehicle cost records and support lease vs. buy analysesCoordinate with fleet operations to ensure timely and accurate expense reportingAssist in the preparation of fleet budget variance reports and forecasting schedules Inventory Accounting :Perform month-end inventory reconciliations between the ERP system and warehouse recordsInvestigate and resolve inventory count discrepancies in collaboration with operationsRecord inventory adjustments, write-downs, and transfers in accordance with GAAPSupport cycle count programs and annual physical inventory processesAnalyze inventory turnover, carrying costs, and obsolescence reserves General Accounting:Prepare and post journal entries for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closeReconcile assigned general ledger accounts and resolve variances on a timely basisAssist with the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packagesSupport internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and documentationParticipate in process improvement initiatives and system enhancementsEnsure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable regulatory standardsAdminister the corporate credit card and Concur expense reporting programs, ensuring policy compliance Your Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field strongly preferredAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data modelingSolid understanding of GAAP and standard accounting principles and practicesExperience with SAP FI (Financial Accounting), CO (Controlling), and/or MM (Materials Management) modulesPrior exposure to fleet accounting, fixed assets, or inventory management in a corporate settingCPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA licensure is a plusExperience with Power Query, Power BI, or other data visualization toolsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate cross-functionallyIn order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and have valid US work authorization. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
