About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role will play a critical part in supporting the monthly and quarterly close process through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting support, and bank reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries for assigned areas, including accruals, fixed assets, amortization, cash, and payroll.
- Absorb and assist in managing the monthly account reconciliation process.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
- Support the quarterly financial reporting process by preparing financial statement tie-outs, supporting documentation, and administrative schedules.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve financial discrepancies and accounting issues.
- Perform analytical reviews of accounts to identify and resolve variances.
- Absorb and assist in preparing monthly bank reporting packages.
- Support ad hoc operational and technical accounting projects as assigned.
- Respond to external and internal auditor requests in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and functions), Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with JD Edwards Accounting Systems and SkyStem Account Reconciliation is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
