Staff Accountant - Capital Accounting
About the role
This role is responsible for the financial reporting related to Welltower’s capital activities which include 3rd party debt, treasury and equity as well as the accounting for Welltower’s derivatives and stock compensation plans. This includes any associated journal entries, reconciliations and financial statement disclosures. In addition, the role is also responsible for Welltower’s debt compliance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining complete and accurate workpapers
- Preparation and posting of journal entries
- Reviewing, monitoring and reconciling related G/L accounts
- Preparation of wires or funds transfers
- Working with other individuals within the organization to complete relevant tasks
- Executing and ensuring compliance with internal controls for relevant processes
- To the extent utilized, ensuring 3rd party software is updated/maintained and that it is in alignment with Welltower accounting records
- Aiding with the preparation of quarterly and annual information related to the Welltower Supplement, 10-Q, 10-K and internal reports
- Preparation of debt compliance packages to be provided to relevant 3rd parties in line with covenants
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: 1-3 years of public or corporate accounting experience is preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
- Knowledge of accounting theory, including GAAP and IFRS is preferred.
- Additional Eligibility Requirements: CPA is preferred but not required.
