Staff Accountant

About the role
The Staff Accountant will play an integral role in the Finance Department and will assist the Accounting team in monthly close of the books as well as financial statement analyses. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate financial analysis, journal entries, and reconciliations while meeting all financial deadlines. This role will assist with deliverables for interim and annual audits, statutory filings, and will report to the Director, Account for Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparation of monthly accounting entries and preparing and adjusting journal entries.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliation.
- Prepare schedules and financial analysis for expenses during month-end close process.
- Prepare comprehensive responses to management’s inquiries.
- Assist with preparation of schedules for various slide decks for internal and external reporting.
- Develop effective metrics tracking to provide accurate and timely representation of demonstrated trends, forecasted needs, and anticipated performance.
- Monitor and analyze raw materials, finished goods, and stockroom inventory levels, productivity, and labor efficiencies.
- Assist in the forecasting and ongoing analysis of fixed and variable labor costs.
- Prepare various schedules and assist outside accountant with any inquiries.
- Work with the Accounting and Finance teams to improve processes.
- Assist with preparation of GAAP financial statements.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Assist in special projects and department initiatives as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics or equivalent experience.
- Two to four years of experience in Accounting, either public or private setting.
- Technical knowledge of GAAP and ability to apply accounting guidance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of accounting systems and ERP systems; NetSuite preferred.
- Two to four years’ experience in the health insurance industry preferred.

Pay
The expected salary for this position is $65,000.00 annually, based on role scope, experience, and market considerations. This position is not eligible for bonus or incentive compensation.
