Staff Accountant

About the role

Vernovis is looking for a high-potential Staff Accountant to join a fast-paced General Ledger team within the construction industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional with 1–2 years of experience who is eager to grow into a Senior Accountant role. The Staff Accountant will work closely with three Senior Accountants and gain exposure to corporate-level accounting processes in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Process and record cash transactions and prepare routine journal entries within the General Ledger.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations across approximately 600 balance sheet accounts, ranging from straightforward to moderately complex.
• Support corporate-level accounting activities, including postings related to general liability insurance, workers’ compensation, and employee health insurance.
• Aid in reallocating and improving reconciliation workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with Senior Accountants to ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 1–2 years of accounting experience (internships or entry-level roles considered); open to strong recent graduates for a first professional role.
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment.
• Self-driven, results-oriented mindset with demonstrated accountability and follow-through.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills to work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders.
