Staff Accountant

Job Description

Our Northwest Dallas client is seeking an experienced Interim Staff Accountant to join their accounting team on a contract basis during a planned leave. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, hitting the ground running, and making an immediate impact. The position offers several weeks of overlap and training before the current employee begins leave, allowing for a smooth transition.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain supporting schedules
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
• Support financial statement preparation and ensure accurate financial reporting
• Perform lease accounting activities in accordance with ASC 842
• Auxiliary inventory accounting, reconciliations, and related analysis
• Research accounting issues and recommend appropriate solutions
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
• Partner with the Accounting Manager and cross-functional teams to support daily accounting operations
• Auxiliary with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years of Staff Accountant or General Ledger accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP
• Hands-on experience with ASC 842 lease accounting
• Inventory accounting experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to explain the reasoning behind accounting entries and financial results
• Experience working in an ERP system is required
• Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail

Additional Details

• Approximately 3 months in duration, with a possibility of extension.
• Hybrid schedule: Four days in the office with Wednesdays remote
