Staff Accountant
About the role
Sumitomo Electric Interconnect Products, Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is seeking a Staff Accountant in San Marcos (North San Diego Area).
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of complex bookkeeping, accounting, and clerical tasks.
- Apply accepted accounting procedures to the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records.
- Prepare financial, statistical, and management reports.
- Support company/department projects, maintain schedules, and provide support while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
- Key accounting deadlines and corporate financial reporting (3-day close) occur during the first work week of every month.
- Process daily cash deposits, lockbox checks, and credit memos.
- Review and report on daily gross margin and negative margin results to management.
- Maintain general ledgers, records, and financial reports.
- Prepare and analyze budgets, maintain fixed assets, and update standard purchase prices.
- Set-up company item numbers for new inventory purchases and manufacture, and review work order bill of materials and router costs.
- Prepare and balance monthly labor and overhead applied activity, and assist in analyzing inventory reserves.
- Prepare and balance monthly bank reconciliations, and assist in developing the company budget.
- Assist in annual transfer pricing analysis, yearly audits, and preparing management reports.
- Multi-task and prioritize, and assist in project deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or a related field of study.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting department and a working knowledge of basic accounting theories and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Advanced computer skills and experience working with PC software in a spreadsheet environment, including formulas and use of pivot tables.
- Ability to prepare account analyses and other records in an organized, neat, and professional manner.
- Self-starter and leader in the accounting department, capable of working independently and with little direct supervision.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Periodic fixed asset walk-through to tag and account for company assets company-wide requiring safety shoes.
Benefits
Relocation not offered. Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000 depending on experience.
