About the role
This position is located in Chicago, IL and supports our Chicago Pace contract.
Responsibilities
- Organizes monthly general ledger activity for input into the accounting system.
- Maintains account balances and makes necessary adjustments.
- Prepares journal entries.
- Prepares and processes documentation for internal and external auditors.
- Identifies and investigates problems with the accounting system on an as-needed basis.
- Works closely with the field to ensure accuracy of accounting information.
- Prepares income and balance sheet statements and various other accounting statements and reports for submission to the Department Lead.
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
- Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures.
- Performs monthly bank reconciliations and account analysis.
- Cleans up assigned accounts and calculates depreciation/amortization expenses as needed.
- May assist with training and mentoring Accountants.
- Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Analyzes financial reports and records, making recommendations for the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in an accounting department required.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with MS Office products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Knowledge of automated account system, J.D. Edwards System is a plus.
