Staff Accountant

About the role

STAXX is a fully remote fractional CFO firm (founded 2022, team of 30+, 90+ active clients from $1MM–$30MM revenue) delivering top-tier accounting, reporting, and CFO advisory across home services, construction, healthcare, SaaS, and more. The Role involves delivering accurate financial statements for a portfolio of clients.

Responsibilities

• Categorize all transactions weekly to the client's chart of accounts with consistent coding, keep bank feeds connected, and perform research on unusual transactions to determine proper treatment.
• Complete bank, credit card, and balance-sheet reconciliations and rollforwards on time, resolving and documenting discrepancies so balances tie to a source document.
• Prepare and post delegated journal entries with clear memos and attached support.
• Keep in-house project tracking systems current and workpapers clean, following naming and folder conventions for each client.
• Give proactive status updates, review your own work before submitting, and complete daily and weekly recaps.

Requirements

• Experience working in QuickBooks Online, with a strong grasp of how categorizations flow through and shape the financial statements.
• A precise, detail-oriented operator. You reconcile to the penny, notice the transaction that doesn't fit the pattern, and catch your own errors before anyone else has to.
• Disciplined about process, documentation, and time management. You follow the schedule, create workpapers others can actually follow, and leave a clean trail behind you.
• A proactive communicator who surfaces blockers early instead of at the deadline, and takes real ownership of every task from start to finish.
• Self-directed and dependable in a remote setting

Qualifications

• Bonus: CPA or other accounting or finance certifications, an accounting or finance degree.

Skills

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Pay

Expected annual compensation for this role is between $65,000 and $80,000, depending on experience and applicable skills.
