Responsibilities
- Manage the accounts payable process, including invoice approval, entry, payments, reconciliations, and setting up new vendors.
- Monitor paid tariffs on imported material and ensure correct allocation and posting to the general ledger.
- Review all expense reports for accuracy and proper expense disclosure and classification.
- Manage the monthly accrual process.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and payments.
- Prepare financial statements and ensure financial records comply with accepted policies and procedures.
- Prepare and post various journal entries.
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings and reporting in the Group consolidation tool.
- Assist in providing information requested by internal and external audit and tax authorities.
- Work closely with Operations, Shipping, Sales (inside/outside), and Management to communicate customer updates and prepare weekly/monthly reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–4+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, forecasting, and/or cost accounting.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Extremely organized with strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and exceptional judgment.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and accounting software; SAP Business One is a plus.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude while providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member to complete assignments within prescribed routines and standard practices.
- Dependable, with excellent teamwork skills, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Current and active driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, forecasting, and/or cost accounting.
- Knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS standards.
- SAP Business One experience, particularly in performing month-end closes.
- Experience in the steel, manufacturing, or services industries.
Working Conditions
- Travel 10% of the time for meetings at other SSAB locations (e.g., inventory counts), trainings, seminars, and conferences as needed.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, provincial, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
