Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger activity by recording journal entries, organizing the chart of accounts, and ensuring transactions are classified accurately.
- Perform regular account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner to preserve data integrity.
- Support monthly and annual close cycles through accrual preparation, adjusting entries, and completion of related accounting schedules.
- Prepare financial documentation and assist with audit requests while helping maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide operational accounting support across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed.
- Contribute to budgeting efforts by compiling financial data, assisting with forecast development, and analyzing variances against plan.
- Help produce periodic financial statements and management reports, including balance sheet and income statement support.
- Recommend and implement more efficient accounting procedures to strengthen internal processes and improve departmental productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, including preparing and posting journal entries.
- Working knowledge of month-end close procedures, accruals, prepaids, and adjusting entries.
- Ability to complete account reconciliations accurately and investigate outstanding differences.
- Familiarity with financial reporting and supporting balance sheet and income statement preparation.
- Understanding of sales tax requirements and exposure to corporate tax return support is preferred.
- Experience assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll-related accounting activities.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
