Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries to keep financial data complete, accurate, and aligned with accounting standards.
- Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, researching discrepancies, and ensuring proper classification of transactions.
- Support corporate tax processes by organizing financial information and assisting with return preparation and related documentation.
- Handle sales tax activities, including tracking obligations, compiling filings, and helping ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
- Reconcile key accounts on a regular basis and resolve outstanding items in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Aid in period-end close activities by gathering supporting schedules and helping deliver timely financial reporting.
- Review accounting records for accuracy and identify opportunities to improve consistency in financial documentation.
- Partner with finance and business teams to respond to reporting requests and provide support on accounting-related matters.
Requirements
- Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
- Practical knowledge of journal entry preparation and general ledger maintenance.
- Familiarity with corporate tax support, including exposure to corporate tax returns.
- Understanding of sales tax processes and compliance requirements.
- Ability to analyze account activity, reconcile balances, and investigate variances.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in financial records.
- Proficiency in standard accounting systems and spreadsheet-based reporting tools.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, and preferably 2+ years of relevant experience. CPA certification is a plus.
