Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Record and post accounting entries accurately while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
- Contribute to monthly and annual closing activities by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and helping finalize financial results.
- Reconcile accounts on a regular basis and investigate variances to ensure issues are resolved promptly.
- Provide support across payables and receivables processes to help maintain smooth day-to-day financial operations.
- Review financial information and produce reports that help management monitor performance and make informed decisions.
- Aid in planning activities by gathering data and supporting budget and forecast preparation.
- Follow established accounting policies and internal control standards to promote compliance and accuracy.
- Prepare supporting documents for audit requests and respond to information needs in a timely manner.
- Recommend workflow enhancements that improve efficiency and strengthen accounting processes.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
- Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger records.
- Working knowledge of corporate tax, including exposure to corporate tax returns and sales tax activities.
- Ability to perform account reconciliations, analyze financial data, and identify discrepancies.
- Familiarity with month-end close procedures and financial reporting support.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work successfully in an onsite client environment.
