Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records and support the integrity of the general ledger.
• Reconcile account activity and assist with month-end close procedures to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Process accounts payable transactions and monitor outgoing payments for accuracy and proper documentation.
• Oversee accounts receivable activity, including invoice tracking and follow-up on outstanding balances.
• Support cost accounting functions by analyzing production-related expenses and maintaining accurate cost data.
• Participate in cycle counts and help coordinate annual physical inventory activities to verify inventory accuracy.
• Review inventory and manufacturing data to identify variances and assist in resolving discrepancies.
• Use AS400 and related accounting systems to enter, track, and report financial information effectively.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• At least 1 year of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar position.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close processes.
• Experience handling both accounts payable and accounts receivable responsibilities.
• Familiarity with cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to assist with cycle counts and annual physical inventory procedures.
• Proficiency using AS400 or comparable accounting and enterprise systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Qualifications

The position will require a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. The position is 100% onsite and will require some to live in the local Knoxville or surrounding areas.
