Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Perform bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain and update the general ledger by preparing and recording routine and adjusting journal entries.
- Process accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, and payment support.
- Aid with month-end closing procedures by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and account analysis.
- Support corporate and sales tax activities, including data gathering and preparation assistance for filings and returns.
- Review financial records for accuracy and completeness while helping strengthen day-to-day accounting controls.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
- Practical experience with bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, accounts payable, and month-end close responsibilities.
- Knowledge of journal entry preparation and account analysis.
- Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and support for corporate tax return processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
