Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations by managing the full cycle of receivables and payables, ensuring timely processing and accurate records.
- Administer factor-related activities, including credit releases, collection follow-up, inventory documentation, reconciliation work, and resolution of chargeback issues.
- Prepare and maintain royalty statements for a broad group of licensed brands, making sure reporting is complete and submitted on schedule.
- Produce commission calculations and supporting reports for sales representatives based on established payment structures.
- Maintain the general ledger in QuickBooks Online, record journal entries, and support accurate month-to-month financial reporting.
- Aid in tax-related accounting activities, including support for corporate tax, sales tax, and related financial documentation.
- Review accounting data for discrepancies, investigate variances, and help strengthen the accuracy of financial controls in a lean team setting.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
- Background in wholesale product distribution is required, with familiarity navigating its pace and financial workflows.
- Practical experience working with factoring processes, including credit approvals, collections, reconciliations, and chargeback handling.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and confidence managing general ledger activity and journal entries.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and core bookkeeping functions.
- Exposure to royalty reporting for licensed brands is highly valued.
- Understanding of tax-related accounting areas such as corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a small, hands-on business environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, and CPA certification is preferred but not required. Experience with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office, and proficiency in Excel are also beneficial.
