Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts to confirm completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Prepare, review, and record journal entries that support monthly accounting activity and financial close requirements.
• Organize financial documentation and assist with clearing historical discrepancies or backlogged accounting records.
• Maintain fixed asset records, update depreciation schedules, and perform related account tie-outs and reconciliations.
• Investigate variances or unusual account activity and work with the team to correct errors efficiently.
• Support process improvements by identifying opportunities to simplify workflows and strengthen accounting controls.
• Use Excel and accounting software to analyze transactions, track supporting details, and produce reliable schedules.
• Aid in tax-related accounting activities, including support for corporate tax and sales tax reporting needs as required.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of accounting experience with strong involvement in general ledger activities.
• Demonstrated ability to complete account reconciliations and prepare accurate journal entries.
• Experience working in environments that require cleanup, catch-up work, or resolution of accounting backlogs.
• Familiarity with fixed asset accounting, including schedules, reconciliations, and related record maintenance, is preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel and comfort using accounting systems for transaction review and financial analysis.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies and follow issues through to resolution.
• Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support is a plus.

Skills

Staff Accountants should have strong skills in accounting, Excel, and familiarity with fixed asset accounting. They should also possess excellent organizational and attention to detail skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00 per hour.
