Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Manage a high volume of invoice processing, ensuring transactions are entered accurately and completed within required timelines.
• Examine, assign accounting codes to, and record vendor invoices in the accounting system with proper documentation.
• Reconcile supplier statements, investigate variances, and coordinate resolution of outstanding issues with vendors and internal teams.
• Maintain organized records for accounts payable activity, including supporting documents for both open and paid items.
• Aid with electronic payment activities and preserve accurate records tied to disbursements and vendor accounts.
• Contribute to month-end closing by preparing reconciliations, supporting schedules, journal entries, and other assigned accounting work.
• Monitor and track charges connected to club functions, events, banquets, and other hospitality-related activities.
• Communicate with departments across the organization to clarify invoice details, obtain approvals, and provide payment updates.
• Support broader accounting and administrative needs through cross-training and participation in additional tasks as priorities shift.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of accounting experience, including meaningful exposure to accounts payable processes.
• Background in staff accounting or full-cycle accounting activities is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Jonas Club Software is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data entry, and accounting systems used for daily financial operations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and a high transaction volume.
• Effective communication skills and a dependable, detail-focused approach to follow-up and problem-solving.
