Responsibilities

  1. Prepare, review, and interpret recurring and ad hoc financial reports, including balance sheet and income statement activity, to ensure accurate period reporting.
  2. Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, posting adjustments and reviewing transactions for completeness and proper classification.
  3. Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and help resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  4. Support budgeting and financial analysis activities by compiling data, validating figures, and presenting information in a clear and usable format.
  5. Assist with external and internal audit readiness by organizing documentation, responding to requests, and helping uphold fiscal compliance standards.
  6. Produce required financial filings and periodic reports for regulatory or government agencies in accordance with established deadlines.
  7. Manage fixed asset records and depreciation schedules to ensure assets are tracked accurately and reported appropriately.
  8. Develop spreadsheets, templates, and allocation models that improve data collection, cost distribution, and financial visibility.
  9. Partner with accounting staff and operational teams to verify financial information, answer questions, and promote consistent accounting practices.

Requirements

  • Experience in staff accounting with hands-on responsibility for general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end support.
  • Strong background in account reconciliations, financial statement review, and analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return processes.
  • Ability to identify accounting irregularities, research root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and financial reporting tools used to organize, analyze, and present accounting data.
  • Understanding of accounting standards, fiscal compliance expectations, and audit support procedures.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across accounting and operational teams.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, and 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a professional services environment. CPA certification is preferred but not required.

Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access. Familiarity with QuickBooks and other accounting software is beneficial.
