Responsibilities
- Oversee financial activity tied to assigned projects, including tracking costs, monitoring performance against budgets, and identifying discrepancies that require follow-up.
- Prepare and process invoices, vendor payments, receivables, and other accounting documents to support accurate and timely financial operations.
- Review project-related time entries and payroll information to help ensure labor costs are recorded correctly and submitted on schedule.
- Maintain the general ledger by entering financial transactions, posting daily cash activity, and reconciling bank accounts and credit card expenses.
- Partner with project managers to review pre-billing details, support monthly project financial discussions, and help confirm client billing accuracy.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, year-end analysis, accruals, and prepayments while providing regular financial reporting to the broader finance team.
- Maintain project accounting records such as contracts, purchase orders, change documentation, and closeout files for completed work.
- Support audit preparation by organizing financial documentation, validating account balances, researching variances, and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Monitor project profitability and communicate billing opportunities, financial exceptions, and client requests for additional detail to management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in project accounting, staff accounting, or a similar finance-focused role.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, general ledger activity, and bank reconciliations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project billing, invoicing, budget tracking, and financial reporting responsibilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic accounting systems; experience with Ajera is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with payroll processing, sales tax, and maintaining accurate financial records across multiple projects.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and project teams.
