Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries to keep financial data accurate, timely, and properly supported.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, reconciling balances, and resolving discrepancies.
• Aid with corporate tax activities, including the preparation of supporting schedules and return documentation.
• Manage sales tax reporting requirements and ensure filings are completed in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Support monthly and periodic close processes by organizing financial information and validating account accuracy.
• Work within Sage-based accounting systems to process transactions, generate reports, and maintain reliable financial records.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather accounting data and provide financial support for operational needs in a manufacturing setting.

Requirements

• Experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role with responsibility for core general ledger functions.
• Hands-on knowledge of corporate tax and sales tax processes, including return preparation support.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and routine financial reporting.
• Background working in the manufacturing industry with an understanding of related accounting considerations.
• Practical experience using Sage accounting software, such as Sage 100, Sage 300, Sage 50, Sage Intacct, or related Sage platforms.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
• Solid communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across accounting and business teams.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
