Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records across routine accounting activities.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure balances are complete and correct.
- Process accounts payable transactions, verify supporting documentation, and help maintain timely vendor payments.
- Support accounts receivable activities by recording incoming payments and following up on outstanding balances as needed.
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve variances between internal records and banking activity.
- Complete cash reconciliations to confirm daily and monthly cash activity is properly recorded.
- Assist with month-end closing tasks, including account analysis and supporting schedules for financial review.
- Maintain organized accounting documentation and respond to internal requests related to financial transactions.
Requirements
- Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of journal entries and general ledger accounting.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Ability to perform bank reconciliations and cash reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency in reviewing financial data, identifying variances, and resolving discrepancies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. A CPA certification is preferred but not required. Relevant work experience in a professional accounting setting is essential.
Skills
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems is required. Familiarity with financial reporting standards and practices is beneficial.
