We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support financial reporting and core accounting operations in Concord, New Hampshire. This role will contribute to period-end close activities, account analysis, audit preparation, and budget support while helping maintain accurate and timely financial records. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively across finance-related initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Create and assess journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end close by maintaining the general ledger, researching variances, and resolving accounting issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist in compiling annual financial statements and assemble documentation required for internal reviews and external audits.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and track balance sheet account activity to support ongoing financial operations and reporting accuracy.
  • Provide support for budgeting activities, financial analysis, and operational reporting to help inform business decisions.
  • Document accounting workflows and help strengthen procedural consistency by offering guidance to colleagues on established practices.
  • Partner with finance team members on process enhancements, strategic projects, and other cross-functional initiatives that improve efficiency and controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management; 5 years is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of journal entries, general ledger activity, financial reporting, and account reconciliation practices.
  • Familiarity with GASB standards and their application within financial reporting environments.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and standard office applications used for reporting, analysis, and documentation.
