Staff Accountant

About the Opportunity:The Staff Accountant role is responsible for supporting the accounting team in monthly closing and delivering accurate financial reporting. This position contributes by improving core accounting processes through AI tools, collaborating across finance functions, and ensuring compliance with financial controls. The role is crucial for maintaining financial accuracy and enhancing efficiency within the accounting operations. 3. Responsibilities:• Use approved AI tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in accounting workflows, reconciliations, journal entries, and close documentation• Propose and implement process improvements using AI and automation• Perform month-end closing activities and reconciliations for accounts such as cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, vendor accruals, and credit cards• Cross-train in various staff accountant areas to support team flexibility• Prepare journal entries and reconcile account balances with proper documentation• Assist with balance sheet and profit and loss flux analyses• Prepare documentation required for SOX compliance• Support Financial Planning and Analysis by explaining budget versus actual variances• Assist in preparing audit and review packages for external auditors• Participate in ad hoc projects across accounting functions 4. Requirements:• Curiosity and willingness to experiment with AI tools and share learnings• Ability to identify opportunities for automation and AI use• 0–2+ years of relevant accounting experience; new graduates with AI project experience or relevant coursework are welcome• Proficiency in Excel required; experience with NetSuite, FloQast, and Coupa is a plus• Self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to work independently• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment• Strong oral and written communication skills 5.
