About the role
Pelican is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role offers broad exposure to manufacturing finance, cost accounting, and business operations.
Responsibilities
- Support month-end close activities, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and operational analysis
- Work closely with Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain, and leadership teams to deliver accurate financial information
- Investigate variances, identify trends, and provide insights that help improve financial performance and decision-making
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses that support accurate and timely reporting
- Support the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and key management reporting
- Partner with Operations to support inventory cycle counts, physical inventories, reconciliations, and inventory analysis
- Aid in cost analysis, budgeting initiatives, and financial support for new products, tooling, and operational investments
- Prepare audit schedules and work directly with internal and external auditors during quarterly and annual audits
- Support government reporting requirements and maintain accurate supporting documentation
- Manage vendor setup and maintenance activities while ensuring data integrity and process efficiency
- Build strong partnerships across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and other business functions to solve problems and improve processes
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, improve controls, and drive continuous improvement across the organization
- Take on special projects and additional responsibilities that support business growth and operational excellence
Requirements
- BS Degree in Accounting, with a minimum of 1-4 years’ experience in general and cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Must have entry-level knowledge of Accounting principles and procedures
- CPA candidate, “Big Four” experience and/or a mix of public and private experience a plus
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills and be detail-oriented
- Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Excel; experience with SAP or large ERP system preferred
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass a background check

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
