About the role
The Finance Department in Queensbury, NY is seeking a full-time, 40-hour Staff Accountant. This position is exempt and works Monday through Friday during standard office hours. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, budgets, spreadsheets, and reports
- Maintain accurate records, reconcile accounts, analyze discrepancies, and support annual budget preparation and variance analyses
- Manage general ledger transactions, fixed assets, CIP projects, loan amortizations, and tax filings, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
- Support audits, CFR preparation, and financial reporting projects, providing timely and accurate information to support organizational decision-making
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- A valid driver’s license meeting WWAARC insurability standards
- Minimum 4-year degree in accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly strong Excel skills
- Experience with Abila (MIP) accounting software preferred
- Experience with CFR preparation and familiarity with Medicaid billing regulations preferred
- Knowledge of auditing practices and principles, generally accepted accounting practices and principles
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, and financial analysis
- Organized, accurate with great attention to detail
- Strong analytical and computer skills, strong oral and written communication skills
Qualifications
