About the role
We're looking for a dependable Staff Accountant to support the company's financial operations through accurate reporting, account analysis, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role works closely with multiple departments to ensure financial accuracy, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and provide meaningful financial insights that support business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Monitor monthly and year-to-date financial activity against budget expectations.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate significant fluctuations in financial results.
- Prepare and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Absorb quarterly financial reconciliation and reporting requirements.
- Review capital expenditure requests and monitor approved capital spending.
- Capitalize completed fixed assets and assign appropriate depreciation schedules.
- Maintain fixed asset records and prepare related depreciation and summary reports.
- Support daily and monthly treasury-related activities.
- Prepare and distribute recurring financial reports and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Conduct accounting research and provide recommendations for resolving accounting issues.
- Collaborate with operational departments to gather financial information and respond to accounting inquiries.
- Absorb annual budget preparation and forecasting activities.
- Utilize and support financial systems and reporting tools to improve accounting efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Support internal control activities and ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing records, research, and requested documentation.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Review financing proposals and assist with financing-related analyses.
- Facilitate communication between accounting, engineering, and maintenance teams regarding capital projects.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0–3 years of accounting experience, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; J.D. Edwards experience preferred.
- Experience utilizing financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools to support accounting operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Ability to work in an office environment and perform computer-based work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
