Staff Accountant

About the role

MMI is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join their Finance team. This role supports the financial operations of U.S. and Mexico facilities.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly cash disbursements for Mexico operations under direction from the Controller.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and billing activities.
• Own the day-to-day management of customer pricing within IQMS/DELMIAWorks.
• Manage employee credit card applications and charges.
• Manage the company petty cash account.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Research and resolve discrepancies involving receiving, supplier invoices, freight charges, purchase orders, and inventory transactions.
• Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
• Verify proper approvals are obtained before tooling invoices are issued.
• Assist with month-end close and financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial metrics and operational reports.
• Support standard costing and inventory analysis.
• Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal processes.
• Aid with additional account projects and departmental initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields preferred.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Mechanical, manufacturing, inventory, or cost accounting experience is a plus.
• Intermediate Excel skills preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Professionalism and integrity in handling confidential financial information.
