About the Role: As our Staff Accountant, you will support the hotel's financial operations by maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Working closely with the Director of Finance and hotel leadership, you will help provide timely financial information that supports sound business decisions and operational success. Your Impact - Financial Excellence You will contribute to the financial health of M Social Sunnyvale by ensuring the integrity of accounting records, supporting month-end close activities, maintaining compliance, and delivering accurate financial reporting. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will help drive operational efficiency and business performance. What You'll Be Doing General Accounting Prepare and maintain journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentationReconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accountsAssist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processesMaintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and GAAPAnalyze financial transactions and identify discrepancies for resolution Financial Reporting Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reportsAssist with financial statement preparation and variance analysisSupport budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activitiesCompile operational reports for hotel leadership and corporate financeMaintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation Accounts Payable & Receivable Support Review invoices for accuracy and assist with payment processingMonitor accounts receivable balances and assist with collections when necessaryReconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepanciesEnsure timely processing of payments and depositsMaintain vendor and customer account records Internal Controls & Compliance Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controlsAssist with internal and external audits by preparing requested documentationSupport compliance with tax reporting requirements and financial regulationsMaintain confidentiality of financial information and company recordsRecommend process improvements to strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency Team Collaboration Partner with Front Office, Food & Beverage, Sales, Human Resources, Purchasing, and other departments to resolve accounting-related issuesCommunicate financial information clearly and professionallyProvide accounting support to department leaders as neededContribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented work environment Requirements Passion for accuracy, organization, and financial excellenceStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detail and time management abilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentHigh level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential information Technical / Role-Specific Requirements Minimum 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or a related industryStrong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reportingAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with hotel accounting systems, ERP platforms, or financial software preferredKnowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and fixed assetsExperience with hotel Property Management Systems (Opera Cloud) and accounting software is a plus Preferred Qualifications Previous accounting experience in a hotel, resort, or hospitality environment preferredExperience supporting month-end close and financial auditsKnowledge of hotel revenue streams and hospitality accounting practicesCPA eligibility or pursuit of professional accounting certification is a plusBilingual abilities are a plus Physical Requirements Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periodsOccasionally lift and carry up to 20 poundsAbility to move throughout the hotel to support operational needsManual dexterity to operate standard office equipment Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field requiredEquivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered where appropriate Benefits At Millennium Hotels & Resorts, we support our employees with a competitive benefits package designed to promote wellbeing and long-term success: Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Company-paid Life and AD&D Insurance Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Coverage 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match (where applicable) Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays Hotel Room Discounts across our global portfolio Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Benefits eligibility and offerings are subject to plan terms and company policy.
