Staff Accountant
About the role
The Staff Accountant will coordinate financial activities for assigned division(s) and/or unit(s), complete funding source required billings and other reports, ensure all financial activity is reflected accurately in the agency general ledger, monitor budget-to-actual expenses for assigned units, and provide variance reporting with appropriate explanations.
The Staff Accountant will make recommendations and provide ongoing communication with business directors and/or program managers to ensure financial aspects are managed according to GAAP, UGMS, Federal UGG, Contract and/or Grant terms as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate financial activities for assigned division(s) and/or unit(s)
- Complete funding source required billings and other reports
- Affirm all financial activity is reflected accurately in the agency general ledger
- Maintain budget-to-actual expenses for assigned units
- Provide variance reporting with appropriate explanations
- Make recommendations and provide ongoing communication with business directors and/or program managers
- Ensure financial aspects are managed according to GAAP, UGMS, Federal UGG, Contract and/or Grant terms as appropriate
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Defined Education: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Prefers: Knowledge of advanced computer systems and governmental accounting
- Substitutions: Master’s Degree and one (1) years’ experience
- Years’ Experience: Three (3) years
- Defined Experience: Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License
