About the role

The Staff Accountant will coordinate financial activities for assigned division(s) and/or unit(s), complete funding source required billings and other reports, ensure all financial activity is reflected accurately in the agency general ledger, monitor budget-to-actual expenses for assigned units, and provide variance reporting with appropriate explanations.

The Staff Accountant will make recommendations and provide ongoing communication with business directors and/or program managers to ensure financial aspects are managed according to GAAP, UGMS, Federal UGG, Contract and/or Grant terms as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate financial activities for assigned division(s) and/or unit(s)
  • Complete funding source required billings and other reports
  • Affirm all financial activity is reflected accurately in the agency general ledger
  • Maintain budget-to-actual expenses for assigned units
  • Provide variance reporting with appropriate explanations
  • Make recommendations and provide ongoing communication with business directors and/or program managers
  • Ensure financial aspects are managed according to GAAP, UGMS, Federal UGG, Contract and/or Grant terms as appropriate

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Defined Education: Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Prefers: Knowledge of advanced computer systems and governmental accounting
  • Substitutions: Master’s Degree and one (1) years’ experience
  • Years’ Experience: Three (3) years
  • Defined Experience: Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License
