About the role
The ideal candidate will have a natural passion for accounting and a strong knowledge of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, taxes, and other financial transactions within an organization. The Staff Accountant will play an important support role, clarifying the financial outlook of our company with precise, proactive measures.
Job Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable transactions through Bill.com and employee expense reports through Ramp, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and timely payment processing.
- Support and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, collections, and payment application, and independently resolve billing discrepancies and disputes with customers and vendors.
- Monitor and respond to customer and vendor inquiries through dedicated email inboxes.
- Aid with payroll-related reporting and reconciliations.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and perform sales tax research to support compliance requirements.
- Aid in daily accounting operations, including preparing and posting journal entries and maintaining the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Support the month-end and year-end close process and prepare supporting schedules and documentation.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and analyses.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in financial data and recommend process improvements.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Business Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 0–5 years of accounting experience
- Experience working with QuickBooks Online and other accounting-related software, such as Bill.com and Ramp, is a plus
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and procedures
- Proficiency in MS Office and/or Google Workspace, particularly in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Highly collaborative and communicative team player; positive and considerate
