We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Staff Accountant to join our Accounting + Finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining our financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other financial transactions. This role requires a strong understanding of grant accounting and experience with Sage Intacct. The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and principles.
- Manage the full cycle of accounting activities including journal entries, month-end close, and year-end audits.
- Oversee grant accounting, ensuring all grants are accurately tracked and reported.
- Use Sage Intacct to automate and streamline financial processes and reporting.
- Aid in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and analyze financial variances.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather information and clarify financial data.
- Aid in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance with grant financial operations and grant audit requirements.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the Accounting + Finance industry.
- Solid experience and understanding of grant accounting.
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills, especially with MS Excel and accounting software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
