About the role
We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our vibrant team in the construction industry. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a strong accounting background, keen analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing and analyzing financial statements, maintaining and managing inventory accounting, and conducting month and year-end close procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory accounting records and conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor and analyze labor trends within the construction industry to provide accurate forecasting and budgeting.
- Prepare and record complex Journal Entries for income and expenses, including depreciation, prepaid expenses, payroll, and others.
- C Conduct month-end and year-end close procedures, ensuring all financial data has been recorded and reconciled.
- Prepare, analyze, and maintain aging reports to track and manage company receivables and payables.
- Use Sage Intacct accounting software for financial management and operations.
- Ensure compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes, improve financial reporting and assist in setting and achieving company financial goals.
- Participate in special projects, preparing detailed financial analysis and providing recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience in preparing and analyzing financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Solid understanding of inventory accounting and experience in managing and maintaining inventory records.
- Familiarity with preparing and maintaining aging reports.
- Knowledge of sales and use tax laws and regulations.
- Ability to manage month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
