Staff Accountant

About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support financial operations across our diverse and exciting portfolio, with a primary focus on our North Carolina-based teams and ventures. This is a unique opportunity to combine strong accounting skills with a passion for sports and entertainment, including involvement with basketball, hockey, and baseball organizations.
Responsibilities
- Record and categorize financial transactions using QuickBooks Online
- Process payroll for multiple sports and marketing entities
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
- Review and analyze financial statements
- Oversee 1099 process
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and financial analysis as needed
- Prepare and file sales tax returns
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience working with multiple entities or projects
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
Qualifications
- Prior payroll experience preferred
- Experience with sports, event, or entertainment accounting a plus

Schedule
This position requires a Monday to Friday schedule with working hours between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Flexibility within this window will be discussed upon hiring, ensuring a balance between operational needs and personal time.
Occasional Travel
The role may require occasional travel to other locations where Zawyer Sports & Entertainment operates as well as other business-related travel. Travel expectations will be discussed in further detail during the interview process.
