About the role

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial reports, general ledger records, and supporting account research and analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
  • Analyze information and summarize findings for management presentation.
  • Maintain and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to appropriately adjust P&L and balance sheet accounts.
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures focused on process improvement and accounting transformation by evaluating current workflows and recommending enhancements.
  • Analyze financial statements to identify and recommend appropriate accruals and adjustments.
  • Respond to accounting and financial inquiries by researching, interpreting, and clearly communicating data.
  • Perform bank and cash reconciliations, including cash accounts, credit cards, and loan balances.
  • Provide data, documentation, and support to external auditors during audits and reviews.
  • Review and analyze inventory transactions, communicating insights and variances to senior management.
  • Support additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in finance or related field.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and can establish priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner and exercise discretion.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.) as well as accounting software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to physically sit at a desk for long periods, operate a computer, and listen/speak clearly on the phone and in-person.
