The Partner Accounting Team is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support partner capital accounting, reconciliations, payment processing, journal entries, and related reporting. This role will focus heavily on maintaining accurate partner capital records, processing daily and monthly activity, supporting quarterly and annual cycles, and identifying opportunities to improve and streamline existing processes.
Responsibilities
- Execute monthly accounting procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations and reports).
- Prepare compensation due for contractual timekeepers.
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting by supplying reliable accounting data.
- Assist in preparation of annual tax documents for partner capital accounts.
- Coordinate audit support by assembling schedules, responding to requests, and organizing required documentation.
- Recommend workflow enhancements and assist with accounting system improvements or implementation-related activities.
- Partner with other departments to understand and support business processes, ensure proper accounting, and resolve reconciling differences.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule with full attention to and engagement in work activities during business hours.
- Perform special projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through on recurring deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research variances and resolve issues.
- Clear and professional communication skills for working with internal departments, partners, lenders, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and office accountants.
- Comfort working independently while also collaborating closely with team members and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Process-minded and open to using technology to improve workflows, documentation, and reporting.
- Ability to maintain complex reconciliations, schedules, and workbooks.
- Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, payment support, and financial reporting schedules.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Microsoft 365.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of related experience.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience; professional services, partnership accounting, or compensation-related experience is a plus.
