Staff Accountant
Summary
Job Description: Perform professional accounting work involving compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data. Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare timely and accurate worksheets, financial statements and reports.
- Aid in the preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to include a variety of reasonably standard, periodic “intermediate” or “end products” such as cost reports, trial balances, balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements or statements of sourcing and application of funds.
- Prepare appropriate commentary relating to report items of significance, and conduct pertinent investigation of the accounts involved.
- Support the needs of the organization by understanding the roles, responsibilities and activities performed by organizational functions; understanding the interrelationship among organizational functions, and collaborating across functional and organizational lines.
- Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial processes as well as Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles.
- Accounting, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
- Accuracy in financial reporting and calculations is required.
- Ability to work with associates at all levels of the organization and other departments.
- Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.
- Minimum one to three years of experience in Accounting/Finance role.
Computer And Software Skills
- Strong skill in operation of a personal computer, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Mail, and Google Sheets.
- Experience with computerized financial reporting systems.
- Experience with SQL query type software.
- Bankway general ledger experience a plus.
Additional Information
- Extended hours may be required during quarter-end and other reporting cycles.
