About the role

Responsibilities
- Prepare and process monthly invoices for government customers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Process, reconcile, and maintain corporate credit card transactions and supporting documentation.
- Prepare, review, and analyze accounting records, financial reports, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and government contract requirements.
- Review the work of team members to verify accuracy, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Cross-train to provide backup support for critical accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Payroll.
- Develop, maintain, and update process documentation and standard operating procedures to support operational consistency and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting issues, improve processes, and support organizational objectives.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of accounting experience with demonstrated knowledge of a variety of accounting functions and processes.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and general ledger functions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and utilize accounting and project-based financial systems; experience with Costpoint, Unanet, or similar software is highly desirable.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to providing responsive and professional service to both internal and external customers.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
- Flexibility and willingness to take on new projects and support team initiatives as business needs evolve.
