Staff Accountant

About the role

This position is designed to provide entry-level exposure to the accounting functions of commercial real estate, with the goal of advancing to a Client Accountant role.

Responsibilities

• Perform full cycle accounting for cash basis and/or basic accrual properties, including cash management, AP and AR, and accruals and reconciliations.
• Prioritize and organize a medium volume workload for one or more clients.
• Prepare comprehensive financial reporting packages in accordance with internal controls and client requirements.
• Aid in accounting support functions as directed by the manager, gaining exposure to various property accounting functions.
• Research and analyze basic accounting issues, escalating concerns to management.
• Communicate effectively with clients and property management in a timely manner.
• Complete and review the Client Accounting month-end checklist to gain a comprehensive understanding of industry-standard accounting practices.
• Shadow experienced Client or Senior Accountants to gain knowledge in accounting functions for more complex properties.

Requirements

Less than 1 year of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A college degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. Prior experience with accounting or database software packages is preferred, along with basic knowledge of commercial real estate.

Qualifications

• Proficient in MS Office.
• Strong keyboarding and 10-key skills.

• The compensation for this role is $22.48 - $26.4463 per hour, depending on eligibility factors such as geographic location, date of hire, total hours worked, job type, business line, and applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
