Staff Accountant

About the role

The Controller's group within Citizens Bank is seeking an individual to work on the Consumer Reconciliation Team. This position involves performing reconciliation activities for a wide variety of functions, including high-risk account reconciliation and complex accounts related to installment products. These positions are critical internal controls and require collaboration with various lines of business to ensure timely and accurate reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare general ledger account reconciliations for a variety of accounts
• Supporting month end activities, preparing exposure reports for Recon Control Group
• Critically review supporting documentation provided by the bank’s lines of business and provide effective challenge when necessary
• Ensure that reconciliations and related documentation conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and bank policies
• Partner with the various lines of business throughout the bank regarding reconciliation-related accounting issues, including exception management and instruction

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Relevant accounting and/or progressive reconciliation experience in a large multi-divisional/multi-entity company (banking preferred)
• Experience with large general ledger systems (experience with the Oracle general ledger system is strongly preferred)
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access & PowerPoint)
• Strong quantitative, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience preparing & presenting reports to various levels of management
