The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting accurate and timely financial reporting for plant operations, working closely with the Controller and cross-functional leaders to complete month-end close activities, prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and provide reporting that supports decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts; research and resolve variances.
- Run monthly departmental expense reports and provide supporting detail to managers and supervisors.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
- Generate and distribute the weekly departmental labor tracker.
- Conduct the annual obsolete inventory review and assist with raw material price testing.
- Provide cash application support during high-volume peak seasons related to customer receipts.
Qualifications
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to perform complex journal entries requiring independent problem solving and data analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Public Accounting background preferred.
- At least 1–2+ years of relevant Finance and/or Accounting experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
