Staff Accountant
About the role
Responsible for reconciling accounts, Elan card oversight, and other accounting duties. Daily reconciliation of Federal Reserve account, weekly and monthly proofs of other correspondent bank accounts, Check Reconciliation System daily reconciliations, setting up fixed assets, weekly and monthly reconciliations and monthly block postings of prepaids and accruals, supporting internal customers regarding foreign wire and currency, daily general ledger entries, balancing interoffice, following up on outdated tickets, assisting employees, vendors, clients, or external customers by answering questions related to accounts and services, posting descriptions to income and expense postings made at the teller line, sharing responsibility with the Financial Reporting Accountant to produce several monthly reports and reconciliations, overseeing the Bank’s Corporate Card program by reviewing all transactions from employees and ensuring their accuracy, securing proper documentation, and overseeing the posting of all such items, supporting the Financial Reporting Accountant with maintaining and creating reports for the department as needed, maintaining the FTE report, complying with all banking related laws and regulations communicated to the employee through training and/or written correspondence and those requirements reflected in the Bank's policies and procedures applicable to the employee's duties and/or areas of responsibility, protecting all customer information and institution assets and complying with privacy and acceptable use policies, performing other duties as assigned by Manager.
Responsibilities
- Daily reconciliation of Federal Reserve account
- Weekly and monthly proofs of other correspondent bank accounts
- Check Reconciliation System daily reconciliations
- Setting up fixed assets
- Weekly and monthly reconciliations and monthly block postings of prepaids and accruals
- SUPPORTING internal customers regarding foreign wire and currency
- Daily general ledger entries
- BALANCING interoffice
- FOLLOWING UP on outdated tickets
- ASSISTING employees, vendors, clients, or external customers by answering questions related to accounts and services
- POSTING descriptions to income and expense postings made at the teller line
- SHARES RESPONSIBILITY with the Financial Reporting Accountant to PRODUCE several monthly reports and reconciliations
- OVERSEES the Bank’s Corporate Card program by REVIEWING all transactions from employees and ensuring their accuracy, SECURING proper documentation, and OVERSIGHTING the POSTING of all such items
- SUPPORTS the Financial Reporting Accountant with MAINTAINING and CREATING reports for the department as needed
- Maintains the FTE report
- COMPLIES with all banking related laws and regulations communicated to the employee through training and/or written correspondence and those requirements reflected in the Bank's policies and procedures applicable to the employee's duties and/or areas of responsibility
- PROTECTS all customer information and institution assets and COMPLIES with privacy and acceptable use policies
- PERFORMS other duties as ASSIGNED by Manager
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two or more years progressively responsible accounting experience
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles and experience with bank reporting and regulations
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with multiple computer applications, specifically word processing, spreadsheet and database management software as well as coding data-based reports
- Ability to perform detail oriented work with a high degree of accuracy
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner
