Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, investment accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
- Take ownership of assigned portions of the monthly close process while ensuring reporting deadlines are consistently met.
- Maintain supporting schedules and accounting documentation.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately in accordance with GAAP and organizational policies.
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Aid in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Assist in developing annual operating budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
- Prepare budget-to-actual variance analyses and identify financial trends.
- Research accounting issues and recommend process improvements.
- Aid in the preparation of financial information for executive management, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.
- Support the development of financial dashboards, KPIs, and management reporting.
- Assist with the annual financial statement audit by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Prepare documentation for tax filings and regulatory reporting.
- Maintain strong internal controls and assist in documenting accounting policies and procedures.
- Support compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and organizational policies.
- Aid in restricted fund accounting and grant reporting, as applicable.
- Participate in the implementation and optimization of a modern cloud-based ERP and financial reporting system.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation and technology.
- Assist with improving data integrity, reporting capabilities, and workflow efficiencies.
- Support the organization’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives through continuous process improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Two to five years of progressive accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Experience with cloud-based ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience supporting financial system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
